Who owns that ‘pleasant’ tiger, Houston officers ask

(Reuters) – Houston animal management officers want to know who owns a “completely pleasant” tiger that turned up unexpectedly in somewhat used home in a residential a part of town.

The tiger and the cage it was in have been moved to town’s animal management campus for the evening after it was found in a home in southeast Houston on Monday, Bureau of Animal Regulation and Care spokeswoman Lara Cottingham stated.

“There was no concern in regards to the tiger getting out of the cage,” Cottingham stated by phone on Tuesday. “She was completely pleasant.”

The wild animal was first found by two individuals who entered the almost vacant home on the lookout for a spot to smoke marijuana, KHOU-TV reported officers as saying.

Though the tiger, which gave the impression to be nicely fed, was cooperative, it was tranquilized for the journey throughout city to the BARC campus, which is usually used for canines, cats and occasional livestock, Cottingham stated.

The tiger is being moved to a Texas animal sanctuary on Tuesday at an undisclosed location, Cottingham stated.

There may be an ongoing investigation into who owns the home and the way the tiger obtained in there, she stated. It’s unlawful to maintain a tiger inside metropolis limits, she added.
