Sen. Elizabeth Warren formally introduced her candidacy for the White Home on Saturday, and hours later President Donald Trump weighed in on his latest marketing campaign opponent, showing to make a joke close to the Path of Tears.
Quickly after the Massachusetts senator’s marketing campaign announcement, Trump tweeted:
“At the moment Elizabeth Warren, typically referred to by me as Pocahontas, joined the race for President,” he wrote on Twitter. “Will she run as our first Native American presidential candidate, or has she determined that after 32 years, this isn’t taking part in so effectively anymore? See you on the marketing campaign TRAIL, Liz!”

The president’s use of the phrase path in all caps is a possible reference to the Path of Tears, the compelled relocation of Native People from their homelands within the Southern United States to reservations in Oklahoma within the 1800s.
Hundreds of Native People died throughout the occasion.
Andrew Jackson was the president who signed the Indian Removing Act into legislation in 1830. Trump picked a portrait of Jackson for Oval Workplace in 2017.
This is not the primary time Trump mocked Warren about her claims of Native American ancestry in a tweet.
In January, after Warren posted a video on Instagram saying that she was forming an exploratory committee for a presidential run, Trump tweeted:
“If Elizabeth Warren, usually referred to by me as Pocahontas, did this industrial from Bighorn or Wounded Knee as an alternative of her kitchen, together with her husband wearing full Indian garb, it will have been a smash!”
Warren apologized on Wednesday for “not having been extra delicate about tribal citizenship” after The Washington Publish revealed a 1986 Texas bar registration card the place she listed her race as “American Indian.”
It was not less than the third time in per week that Warren has apologized for her previous self-identification.
